District 2 August Update

E-mail Print PDF
Do you know I have not heard from anyone from the District. Ok, I take that back. Marvin did send me a email reminding me of the LAKE CITY CONTEST.  I want to impress on everyone how important it is to attend this contest. Marvin pointed out to me if we want to continue this contest we NEED PILOTS TO ATTEND.  I believe last year we had around 20. I know we can do better. This is a great field. For anyone that wants to give pattern a try this is the place. Along with a great field the Flying Tigers are a great club who treat us very well. I'm sure by now for anyone who went to the NATS you have gotten over that feeling of you had enough flying. This is the 1st contest that starts the fall season. So hold the 11th and 12th of September open for the LAKE CITY CONTEST.
While I'm on the subject of contest don't forget the FARM FALL CONTEST ON THE 19TH AND 20TH OF SEPTEMBER.  Yes I know two in a row. Guys we had no choice.  It does help some what that one contest is located in the southern part of the district while the other is in the northern part. (Lots of district points to be had!)
District 2 had a good showing at the NATS this year. If the district keeps growing in numbers and continues to develop more and more talent we will again be a force to be reckoned with.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING NATS ATTENDEES:
INTERMEDIATE
Charles Simmons   2nd place
Mark Carey              4th place
Anthony M Claridge 5th place
Don Manson             8th place
Robert Burnett          11th place

ADVANCE;
Joseph Szczur          2nd place
Larry Kauffman          8th place
Edwin Manson          13th place

MASTERS
George Asteris          3rd place
Dale Arnold               11th place

FAI
Don Szczur                  5th place
Peter Collinson           9th place

I'll see everyone at Lake City the 11th and 12th of Sept.

July update

E-mail Print PDF
I'm sure everyone going to the Nats is prepared! I know I have used a lot of electrons. I wish everyone in the district good flying and lots of 10's. Would you believe we have 12 representitives from D2 going to the Nats and that doesn't count Lotto the pattern dog. That says something about our district.  We are growing!
Hopefully if all goes well I will try to post some pictures of the NATS daily events tailored to D2 flyers. Posts will be on our district web page.
District contests pick up again in September. I expect by then there may be more room in the intermediate class. I keep hearing more flyers will be in Advance. Remember Intermediate and Advance flyers new sequences are on the way. Be prepared and start early.  Practice!
I believe we are in good shape concerning the purhase of the D2 fellowship award for the end of the year. Charles don't forget I will need the plague back prior to the District Championships.
By the way, looks like we have another member of our district joining the NSRCA board.  Dick Fremburg will be the new editor of the KFactor.
Congratulations Dick!

See everyone at Lake City!

D2 June Update

E-mail Print PDF

I Just want to let everyone know how much I appreciated the turn out for the D1-D2 challenge.  I believe we as a district make a pretty darn good team!  If you look at the finals D2 won every placement except three.  Archie has posted the final placement of the contest on RC Universe for anyone that would like to take a look.  Would you believe D1 is willing to try it again next year?
The D2 contest season for 2010 takes a break for the months of July and August unless you are headed for the NATS. If your like me after the NATS I need a break . Marvin gets things going again with his contest at Lake City the 11th and 12th of Sept. So what is everyone going to do with that 2 month time period?  Practice!  That is what I am going to do. That includes learning next years sequence. For the 1st time after 4 years Intermediate and Advance will be flying a new sequence.  I'm excited and ready for a new challenge.  I'm sure we all are. There is a rumor there will be a few more Advance pilots next year or even after this years NATS.
I wish everyone that is heading for the NATS many 10's and the best of luck. By the way I'll see you all there!

May District 2 Update

E-mail Print PDF
I realize this is a little late for an update for the month of May. This month has been very busy for me. I have received very little information from the District. Not sure if that is good news or bad! Two contest have been completed with number 3 coming up.  Don't forget the FARM Spring event is this coming weekend. Hope to see everyone there. We now have 110 outlets available for charging on site for all of us that fly with electrons.  Sorry no free glow fuel! I'm working on the schedule for the rest of the flying season for District 2 and will include it in this article for everyone's review. I believe all dates are confirmed so start planning for those Fridays off for travel and practice.
If anyone is interested in purchasing a District 2 NSRCA shirts or hats let me know. $5.00 dollars of the purchase price will be donated to District 2 for funding of district awards and other requirements.

See everyone this weekend! Don't forget we need to defend the honor of District 2.  Support the District and attend the D1-D2 Shoot-out coming up in June.

April D2 Update

E-mail Print PDF
This is a short and important update.  I received a email yesterday from Tom Miller.  Tom wanted to make sure that all District 2 members take a look at the AMA site for pattern rules proposals. The link to the site is http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/ruleproposals/rcaerobatics.aspx . If I counted correctly there are 24 proposals up before the board. Tom wants to know how everyone feels and I'm sure would like feed back from District 2. Perhaps the best way to do this is to send your comments to me and I'll organize and send them to Tom. This is important to our sport so take a few minutes and get your comments to me. SOON!!!!!!!
On another note don't forget about Buff's contest coming up on APRIL 17th and 18th. First one of the year for District 2. Hope to see everyone there.
