So, you would like to enter your contest into the Thyme Calendar Management system? The following scenario will take you step by step through this process.
This lesson works best if you set up your browser with two tabs; one for this lesson and the second to enter the live event request, thus enabling you to toggle back and forth from lesson to live data entry.
Before we get started, the first point to understand is Thyme treats Registered users differently from Guests. Guests may enter events if the calendar owner has enabled this feature. If he has, the guest must submit his event for approval by the owner, otherwise guests can only read the calendar.
Registered users may enter and edit events without calendar ownership approval. The owner in a sense has pre approved them. Ultimately, I foresee all NSRCA members as registered.
Let's assume that you are a guest. This scenario is the longer of the two. We'll point out along the way which steps are omitted for registered users.
When selecting Calendar from the Top Menu on the Home page you will see a screen possibly like this:
To start:
- Scroll through the Calendars window and select the correct calendar that you wish to request an event. Thyme starts with the Default Calendar, you don't want this. In this lesson we use D2 Calendar.
- Select the Month tab,
This page is then displayed.
- Again, check on the left that you have the correct calendar.
- Navigate to the Saturday of the month you want to have your contest, click on that day to highlight it.
- Then select the ‘+’ in the upper right corner of the day. If you don't see a '+' this means the owner has not enabled guests to request an event. Guests for this calendar will have to wait to enter a event request (maybe forever if the owner refuses to allow guests to request events). For now you are blocked; talk to your District VP or district webmaster.
- Guests click Next.
This will bring you to the New Event General page.

- Make sure the Calendar: is the one you want. I don't mean to wear you out with this point, but it just makes it easier for the owner, district web master, or registered user. They can easily fix it, but they shouldn't have, too. District 8 readers may have cause to scratch their heads if they see a contest in their calendar to be held in New Jersey.
- Fill in the Title: you want for your contest,
- Check ‘Contest’ in the Categories: field. This could be called something else. It depends upon what the owner elected for categories.
- Make sure Date and Day are correct for that Saturday under Date:
- Check ‘This is an all day event’ under Time:
- Fill in the Contest Director’s name under Name:
- Fill the URL of your club’s web site under URL: if you have one.
- For Notes: fill in any pertinent information you want the readers to see. Like; ‘RVs welcomed, no hookups’ or ‘Chicken Pot Pie served Saturday night’. This information will show up when the reader hovers their mouse over the event in the calendar.
- You may ignore the Flags: and Icon: fields or you may experiment.
- Click on the Repeating tab.
This brings you to the Repeating window.

- Click on Advanced.
- Click on the Monthly tab.
- Type 12 in ‘Repeat every ___ Month(s)’.
- Under Weekdays scroll to every, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or last picking which Saturday of the month you want, then Saturday in the second window. Then press <Add.
- Repeat steps 4, this time choose Sunday in the second window. Press <Add. You should now have for example; last Saturday and last Sunday in the left window.
- Click on No End Date. This will put your contest in the calendar forever. If you prefer not to list it this way, experiment with the other two choices. Understand if you check the last choice End after x occurrences, since you have a two day event each day counts as an occurrence. So, if you wish for your contest to be posted for five years you'll need to put in 10.
- Click on the Location tab.
This brings you to the Location window. By now you can consider yourself an expert and fill in the fields:

- Location: Name of your field. The first time through you'll need to fill in these three pieces of information. If and when you ever return for a different event at this location, Thyme will auto fill the three fields. That's what the first scroll window does for you.
- Address: Address of your field. Thyme uses Google Maps to point to this address. Watch for it once your event is listed.
- Phone: Contest Director’s telephone number.
- Click on Save. At this point registered user are finished and will be forwarded to the main Thyme calendar page.
Guests will see the next two pages:
- If you wish to say anything to the owner you can do it in the Additional Request Notes box.
- If you wish to be notified by the owner, check the box Notify me of this request's status at and fill in your e-mail address.
- Click Save.

- Click Close.
As a guest you are finished and will be forward to the main Thyme calendar page.
And, that's it. I hope you found this lesson informative. If you have any questions on Thyme I'll try my best to help you.
