I began my modeling career back in 1989 while attending Texas A&M University. I was hooked immediately.  Back in those days, Model Aviation had a monthly article on R/C Precision Aerobatics and I couldn't wait to get my magazine so I could stare at the pictures of these futuristic looking pattern ships.  I had no idea what pattern really meant but man, the looks of those planes!  I started finding out as much as I could about what it truly meant to fly precision aerobatics.  I ate, slept, and lived to fly pattern.  Even when I was out at the local field in Bryan, Texas flying trainers and sport planes, I found myself still practicing pattern.  It was blatantly clear that's what I wanted to do.  My first pattern plane was a Tiporare followed by a PA-2 that took me through the Advanced sequence.  I was building (with a ton of hand holding) a LA-1 in 1992 which was my dream airplane when I moved to Arizona.  I left that plane behind and flew for a few more years flying Masters.  I stopped flying to start a family and start a career in 1996 but never lost the passion for this sport.

In 2010, I moved back to Bryan, Texas and went from zero planes to an arsenal of 6 planes in 5 months and can't get enough of it again.  One of those planes is that same LA-1 that I left behind long ago.  My best friend bought it from a guy and hung it in his garage.  When I saw it, it was in exactly the same condition as when I left it 19 years ago and never flown.  The plane is now flying and is a tribute to true friendship.  Today, I work for a Chemical Engineering firm in Bryan Texas as their Information Technologies Director and also own an I.T. consulting firm with that same friend.  I have been in this field for the past eleven years primarily working for Toyota.  You'll catch me at as many D6 contests as the budget will support with my kids and my wonderful wife, Jan, flying a CA Models De Ja Vu.  There's nothing like flying precision aerobatics. It is the most amazing thing to watch and the most frustrating thing you'll ever do but, in the end, drawing fantastic vertical lines and presenting a slow roll that makes the plane look like it's on a string is indeed an art in itself.

I look forward to meeting many new faces and seeing some of my old friends again. I am truly blessed to be your Secretary and am here to serve you.  My goal is to help grow our organization and bring a true understanding of our facet of this hobby to any and all that are interested.  If I can help you out in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.
